HEDIS (Health Plan Effectiveness Data and Information Set ) is sponsored and maintained by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). HEDIS represents a set of performance measures that healthcare consumers and watch groups utilize to assess the quality of care an organization delivers to its members. These measures are related to many significant health issues such as cervical cancer screening or childhools imunization rates. They include a standard survey of consumer experiences that evaluate a plan’s performance in various areas during their treatment.

For health plans intent upon seeking and/or maintaining NCQA Accreditation status, the importance of audit-worthy HEDIS reporting has taken on new significance since the integration of these two activities.
